Our Story

Vicki Barghout, Viver's CEO, has seen cancer care from both sides. She was leading the oncology division at a major biopharmaceutical company when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Black and white portrait of a woman with curly hair smiling, wearing earrings and a floral top, outdoors setting.

Diagnosed with breast cancer the day before her second daughter was born, Vicki saw an unmet need for evidence-based educational resources that incorporate the patient perspective and empower individuals to take an active role in their own health. During her treatment journey, Vicki discovered the power of a whole-person, integrative approach to care, focusing on symptom management, physical activity, stress mitigation, and nutrition. She researched the connections between disease, well-being, and lifestyle. Blending these integrative interventions with modern, evidence-based science, she created a personal action plan that led to the publication of the inaugural Guide, "Reduce Your Risk of Cancer."

Vicki's healthcare journey changed her life, her path, and her passion. She founded Viver Health, a health education company with a focus on creation of evidence-based educational resources that empower patients and engage HCPs with actionable tools to drive shared decision making, better outcomes, and improved quality of life for those facing cancer and other chronic and rare diseases.

Our Team.

Viver’s Team has over 75 years of collective experience in biopharmaceuticals, patient care, and creative direction. Combining research and clinician expertise with award-winning design, we create educational resources that meet audiences where they are.

  • Vicki has over 25 years of expertise in US and global market access, real world evidence (RWE), strategy, health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), pricing, and patient-reported outcomes. A health economist by training, she oversaw divisions in her role as an executive leader at Novartis, Novartis Oncology, and Bayer HealthCare. She spearheaded innovative projects from discovery to post-launch activities, conducted research that was instrumental to regulatory submissions with both the FDA and EMEA, and contributed to numerous breakthrough designations and drug approvals.

She has published over 45 manuscripts and presented over 140 abstracts at major international conferences, with her work mentioned in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. Vicki is multilingual and has lived in Switzerland, England, Mexico, and Guatemala, as well as throughout the U.S. She received her graduate degree from the University of North Carolina, Gilling School of Global Public Health.

  • Lauri brings 25+ years of clinical experience and previously served as the Medical Director of the University of New Mexico’s Integrative Medicine Clinic. She graduated from Duke University’s Leadership in Integrative Medicine Program and is a board-certified General Surgeon whose career was spent practicing in multicultural settings in rural Colorado. She is also board certified in Integrative Medicine and trained in functional medicine. She has been involved with the Academic Consortium of Integrative Medicine, the ASBrS and has published on the cost-effectiveness of Integrative Medicine.

  • Jesper is the former Art Director of Advertising Age, a marketing and ad agency trade news publication. During his tenure, he steered the 80-year-old legacy publication through a complete overhaul of the print edition. His work on the redesign was recognized in The New York Times in 2012. His cover designs have earned several awards and nominations, and he was part of the team that won a Neal Award in 2008. Jesper received his B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College.

  • Becca brings 10 years of experience in cancer biology, immunology, and neuroscience. She received her PhD and MA in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from UCSB, where her dissertation, supported by a prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, focused on uncovering the mechanisms of action for chemotherapy antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) to enhance their therapeutic efficacy and reduce off-target side effects. She also investigated the biochemical changes in brain cells that drive Alzheimer's disease, contributing valuable insights into the mechanisms driving protein dysfunction in early-onset dementia. Becca has worked in the biotechnology industry for the past 6 years, partnering with startups and pharmaceutical companies on  topics ranging from immunological signatures of autoimmune and infectious disease to cancer companion diagnostics. She has been recognized for her award-winning science communication skills, effectively communicating complex scientific concepts to both general and expert audiences.

  • Sophie completed her PhD in Neuroscience at Brandeis University, where she studied the role of premature vision in the etiology of cortical visual impairment. Her focus on visual cortical development sparked a broader interest in critical periods and inspired her to extensively study the mechanisms underlying pharmacological induction of neuroplasticity across neural circuits. Drawing on over a decade of experience in scientific research, writing and communication, she brings extensive expertise to Viver Health's medical writing and research team.

Our Partners

We work with biopharmaceutical partners to create digital and print educational resources focused on whole-person care for cancer, chronic, and rare diseases.

Endorsed by national and international patient advocacy groups and medical associations, our evidence-based materials facilitate symptom and side effect management, improve education, and support treatment adherence, all while generating real-world evidence.

Our resources support field sales and medical teams by improving patient, HCP, and payer engagement. With customized data and actionable insights, we help clients differentiate their brands, drive effective HCP marketing, and optimize market access across the full product lifecycle.

Challenges Our Partners Face

Pharmaceutical and healthcare companies are under pressure to increase treatment adherence, improve patient outcomes, and differentiate their brands. Yet persistent challenges impact both patients and business outcomes.

Combining evidence-based science with stakeholder insights and design expertise, we help clients strengthen brand identity, maximize HCP marketing impact, expand market share, and improve both patient acquisition and long-term adherence. See how we can help differentiate your brand.

  • Non-adherence to prescribed therapies costs healthcare companies $290 billion annually. 30% of prescriptions are never filled and up to 70% of cancer patients stopped taking their treatment after 6 months. Engaging HCPs and patients drives better adherence, compliance, and ROI while improving patient outcomes.

  • Patients need resources to manage symptoms, understand their disease, and stay on prescribed therapies. Providers and payers need trusted content to make informed treatment and coverage decisions.

From educating payers on patient-reported outcomes and new FDA-approved treatments to informing patients about managing cancer, chronic, and rare diseases, Viver's educational resources can help support product adoption and market access, no matter the audience.

  • Access to HCPs and institutions is increasingly limited, yet meaningful engagement is essential for brand growth. Without tools that establish credibility, teams struggle to make meaningful connections. Viver's resources open doors!

Our evidence-based resources—branded or unbranded, available as print leave-behinds or in digital formats—help your field sales and medical affairs teams engage HCPs, KOLs, hospital systems, academic medical centers, payers, and patient advocacy groups.
